Arrow Video Kolobos Arrow Video Kolobos 61.98 AUD KOLOBOSThe Real World meets Saw by way of Suspiria in this super-smart, super-gory - and, sadly, super-overlooked - late '90s slasher effort from filmmakers Daniel Liatowitsch and David Todd Ocvirk, released in the midst of the post-Scream slice-and-dice revival.A group of youngsters arrive at a snow-covered house under the guise of participating in a grounding-breaking new experimental film. With the entire property fitted out with cameras, their every move will be recorded. But when the house locks down, trapping the youngsters within, it soon becomes clear that something sinister is afoot. Scream - you're on camera...Marketed as little more than a generic horror flick at the time of its release, Kolobos, far from being a run-of-the-mill slasher clone, has much more in common with the booby-trap stylings of Cube (1997) and the reality TV theme of My Little Eye (2002), which it preempted by some three years.DIRECTOR-APPROVED SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS:Brand new 2K restoration from the original negativeOriginal Stereo and 5.1 audio optionsAudio commentary with co-writers and co-directors Daniel Liatowitsch and David Todd OcvirkReal World Massacre: The Making of Kolobos - brand new featurette on the making-of Kolobos including interviews with Daniel Liatowitsch, David Todd Ocvirk and co-writer/producer Nne EbongFace to Faceless - a brand new Interview with Faceless actor Ilia VolokSlice & Dice: The Music of Kolobos - a brand new interview with composer William KiddBehind-the-Scenes Image GallerySuper 8 short film by Daniel Liatowitsch with commentaryOriginal TrailerFIRST PRESSING ONLY: Fully illustrated collector's booklet with new writing on the film by Phillip Escott
Arrow Video The Marx Brothers Collection Arrow Video The Marx Brothers Collection 109.98 AUD The Marx Brothers – Chico, Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo – are one of the cornerstones of American comedy. Starting out in vaudeville, they conquered Broadway and the big screen in their own inimitable style, at once innovative, irreverent, anarchic, physical, musical, ludicrous and hilarious. With the advent of the 'talkies', the Brothers signed to Paramount Pictures and brought their stage act to cinema audiences. They made five films in five years, all of which are collected here: The Cocoanuts (1929), Animal Crackers (1930), Monkey Business (1931), Horse Feathers (1932) and one of the greatest comedies of all time, Duck Soup (1933).The Paramount era represents the Marx Brothers at their absolute finest, retaining all of the energy and controlled chaos of their stage shows. Plots are unimportant – it's the gags, set-pieces and one-liners that matter: Why a duck? , Hello, I Must Be Going , Hooray for Captain Spaulding , That's the bunk! , Horse Feathers' Swordfish scene and classic mirror sequence in Duck Soup.Special Features:High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentations of all five features, each scanned and restored in 4K from original film elements by UniversalOriginal 1.0 mono audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearingCommentary on The Cocoanuts by film scholar Anthony SlideCommentary on Animal Crackers by film historian Jeffrey VanceCommentary on Monkey Business by Marx Brothers historian Robert S Bader and Bill Marx, son of Harpo MarxCommentary on Horse Feathers by film critic FX FeeneyCommentary on Duck Soup by Bader and film critic Leonard MaltinThe Marx Brothers: Hollywood's Kings of Chaos, a feature-length documentary containing interviews with Leonard Maltin, Dick Cavett and others Three excerpts from NBC's The Today Show featuring interviews with Harpo Marx, Groucho Marx and Bill MarxSibling Revelry, an introduction to the Marx Brothers by critic David CairnsMONKEYNUTCRACKERDUCKFEATHERS, a video essay about the films by David Cairns
Arrow Video Audrey Rose Arrow Video Audrey Rose 61.98 AUD Master filmmaker Robert Wise began his career with horror classics The Curse of the Cat People and The Body Snatcher for producer Val Lewton. His career would go on to include westerns, thrillers, science fiction and musicals, earning him two Academy Awards for Best Director. In 1963 he returned to his Lewtonian roots with the classic ghost story The Haunting; In 1977 he returned once more with the supernatural thriller Audrey Rose. All Bill and Jane Templeton wish for is a quiet, peaceful life with their 11-year-old daughter Ivy. But their dreams turn to nightmares as Ivy is besieged first by terrifying 'memories' of events that never occurred... and then by a mysterious stranger who stalks her every move, and claims that Ivy was in fact his daughter in another life.Released in the wake of The Exorcist and The Omen, Audrey Rose is an intelligent, heartfelt drama that approaches its subject with an open mind and seriousness of intent that caught many off guard but typifies Wise's previous genre forays. It's Alive!Kenneth Branagh leads an all-star cast including Robert De Niro, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Hulce, Ian Holm, John Cleese and Aidan Quinn in his definitive cinematic version of Mary Shelley's classic tale of gothic terror. At the turn of the 19th century, visionary scientist Victor Frankenstein (Kenneth Branagh) embarks on an obsessive quest to conquer the mysteries of human mortality. But his hubristic bid to create life out of death goes hideously wrong, and succeeds only in begetting a deformed monster (Robert De Niro).Horrified by what he has wrought, the scientist attempts to destroy his creation, but fails. Rejected by his creator and shunned by the world of man, the tormented creature swears vengeance against Frankenstein and his family. As the monster begins to enact his murderous revenge, Victor must face a terrible reckoning with the tragic consequences of attempting to play God.Mary Shelley's seminal novel is one of the most adapted books of all time, and this retelling faithfully goes back to the original source, lushly transforming the story's twin themes of love and death into a darkly operatic gothic romance.Unlike many versions of Shelley's novel, Branagh's adaptation understands that Frankenstein's misbegotten creation is as pitiable as he is monstrous, and never loses sight of the human tragedy lying at the core of its horrific tale. Filled with sweeping, atmospheric visuals and powerfully emotional performances from an award-winning ensemble of acting talent, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein stands as a landmark interpretation of this enduring masterpiece.New 4K restoration from the original camera negatives by Sony Pictures Entertainment4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) Original uncompressed stereo audio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingBrand new audio commentary by film historians Michael Brooke and Johnny MainsBrand new interview with composer Patrick DoyleBrand new interview with costumer designer James AchesonBrand new interview with make-up designer Daniel ParkerMary Shelley and The Creation of a Monster, a brand new documentary featurette on the origins and evolution of the Frankenstein story, featuring Gothic specialists David Pirie, Jonathan Rigby and Stephen VolkDissecting Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a brand new featurette with David Pirie, Jonathan Rigby and Stephen Volk on the differences between the novel and Kenneth Branagh's screen adaptationFrankenstein: A Liberal Adaptation from Mrs. Shelley's Famous Story for Edison Production (1910): The first screen adaptation of Shelley's story in a 2K restoration by the Library of Congress, with music by Donald SosinOriginal trailersReversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Laz Marquez

Arrow Video Tenderness Of The Wolves - Dual Format (Includes DVD) Arrow Video Tenderness Of The Wolves - Dual Format (Includes DVD) 52.98 AUD Fritz Haarmann, aka the Butcher of Hanover and the Vampire of Hanover, was a German serial killer responsible for the murders of two dozen boys and young men during the so-called 'years of crisis' between the wars. His case would partly inspire Fritz Lang's M, and its central character portrayed by Peter Lorre, as well as this forgotten gem from 1973.Tenderness of the Wolves treats the viewer to a few weeks in the company of a killer. Baby-faced and shaven-headed, in a manner that recalls both M and F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu, Haarmann is a fascinating, repulsive figure. Using his status as a police informant to procure his victims, he dismembers their bodies after death and sells the flesh to restaurants, dumping the remainder out of sight. This isn't an easy film to watch, but it certainly gets under the skin...Produced by Rainer Werner Fassbinder (who also supplies a shifty cameo), Tenderness of the Wolves provided two of his regular actors with a means of expanding their careers. Ulli Lommel - later responsible for the infamous video nasty The Boogeyman - made his directorial debut, while Kurt Raab wrote the screenplay as well as delivering an astonishing performance as Haarmann.

Arrow Video Donnie Darko - Director's Cut Arrow Video Donnie Darko - Director's Cut 61.98 AUD I WANT YOU TO WATCH THE MOVIE SCREEN. THERES SOMETHING I WANT TO SHOW YOU.Fifteen years before Stranger Things combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Richard Kelly set the template and the high-water mark with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium.Donnie is a troubled high school student: in therapy, prone to sleepwalking and in possession of an imaginary friend, a six-foot rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world is going to end in 28 days 06 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds. During that time he will navigate teenage life, narrowly avoid death in the form of a falling jet engine, follow Frank s maladjusted instructions and try to maintain the space-time continuum.Described by its director as The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick , Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast pre-stardom Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, heartthrob Patrick Swayze, former child star Drew Barrymore, Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell and Katherine Ross, and television favourite Noah Wyle and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran. After the convulsions and nausea subside, Virginia insists to Leo that she has been clean for 8 months due to the help of a mysterious group. NOW, THEY RE FIGHTING FOR THEIR FRIENDS.As the 1980s rolled on, a new, bullish attitude to war took hold in America, the weary cynicism of the previous decade giving way to an unabashed celebration of military might. Numerous filmmakers and producers sought to capitalise on the emerging mood... among them New World Pictures, the company founded by the legendary Roger Corman. In The Annihilators, the war comes home as a group of army vets, battle-scarred from their travails in the jungles of Vietnam, are forced to dust off their combat moves once again when one of their own meets his demise at the hands a violent criminal gang. Arrow Video Orgies of Edo Arrow Video Orgies of Edo 61.98 AUD Legendary Toei director Teruo Ishii tells three stories of moral sickness set during Japan's prosperous Genroku era in this bloody follow-up to his sexploitation classic Shogun's Joy of Torture, and the fourth entry in Toei's 'abnormal love' film series. Ishii's politically incorrect moral lessons paint a trio of tales of tragic heroines caught up in violence, sadomasochism, incest and torture.Told in anthology style by an impassive physician (Teruo Yoshida), the first story follows Oito (Masumi Tachibana), an innocent young girl deceived by a handsome yakuza and sold into prostitution who finds herself in a doomed love affair with the man who brought her to ruin. The tale of Ochise (Mitsuko Aoi) is about the daughter of a rich merchant whose insatiable appetite for filth and perversion draws her deeper into violence, darkness and betrayal. Finally, the storyof Omitsu (Miki Obana) follows a sadistic lord (Asao Koike) whose eye is caught one day by a beautiful member of his harem who shares his strange taste for pain and blood, but who holds a secret of her own that will destroy his entire household.A stylistic about-face from the director's prior work for Toei on the successful Abashiri Prison action series starring Ken Takakura, Ishii's erotic films grew increasingly shocking, violent and strange, and Orgies of Edo finds him combining period film detail with carnivalesque grotesquerie to create his own particular vision of love and sex. This landmark 'ero-guro' film allowed Ishii to experiment with elements that would later show up in his masterpieces Horrors of Malformed Men and Blind Woman's Curse, including the participation of sideshow performers and butoh dancer Tatsumi Hijikata.Special Edition Contents:High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray presentationOriginal uncompressed mono PCM audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingThe Orgies of Ishii – an exclusive, newly filmed interview with author Patrick MacciasTheatrical trailerReversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Matt Griffin
