Arrow Video The Marx Brothers Collection Arrow Video The Marx Brothers Collection 109.98 AUD The Marx Brothers – Chico, Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo – are one of the cornerstones of American comedy. Starting out in vaudeville, they conquered Broadway and the big screen in their own inimitable style, at once innovative, irreverent, anarchic, physical, musical, ludicrous and hilarious. With the advent of the 'talkies', the Brothers signed to Paramount Pictures and brought their stage act to cinema audiences. They made five films in five years, all of which are collected here: The Cocoanuts (1929), Animal Crackers (1930), Monkey Business (1931), Horse Feathers (1932) and one of the greatest comedies of all time, Duck Soup (1933).The Paramount era represents the Marx Brothers at their absolute finest, retaining all of the energy and controlled chaos of their stage shows. Plots are unimportant – it's the gags, set-pieces and one-liners that matter: Why a duck? , Hello, I Must Be Going , Hooray for Captain Spaulding , That's the bunk! , Horse Feathers' Swordfish scene and classic mirror sequence in Duck Soup.Special Features:High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentations of all five features, each scanned and restored in 4K from original film elements by UniversalOriginal 1.0 mono audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearingCommentary on The Cocoanuts by film scholar Anthony SlideCommentary on Animal Crackers by film historian Jeffrey VanceCommentary on Monkey Business by Marx Brothers historian Robert S Bader and Bill Marx, son of Harpo MarxCommentary on Horse Feathers by film critic FX FeeneyCommentary on Duck Soup by Bader and film critic Leonard MaltinThe Marx Brothers: Hollywood's Kings of Chaos, a feature-length documentary containing interviews with Leonard Maltin, Dick Cavett and others Three excerpts from NBC's The Today Show featuring interviews with Harpo Marx, Groucho Marx and Bill MarxSibling Revelry, an introduction to the Marx Brothers by critic David CairnsMONKEYNUTCRACKERDUCKFEATHERS, a video essay about the films by David Cairns

Arrow Video The Haunted Palace Arrow Video The Haunted Palace 46.98 AUD Although recognised as part of Roger Corman's Edgar Allan Poe cycle (its title comes from a Poe poem), The Haunted Palace has a much more significant place in film history for being the first high-profile adaptation of the work of H.P. Lovecraft, in this case his novella The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.Ward is one of two characters played by Vincent Price, the other being Ward's great-great-grandfather Joseph Curwen, burned as a warlock 110 years before. When Ward returns to the village of Arkham to reclaim the family mansion, his striking resemblance to his ancestor is just the first of many macabre events that proceed to unfold, including the screen debut of Lovecraft's legendary Necronomicon. As before, Corman and his team worked wonders with their modest budget, with Daniel Haller's sets amongst the most elaborate in all the Poe cycle, enhanced by genuinely creepy moments such as the crowd of deformed villagers still living under Curwen's curse.

Arrow Video Kolobos Arrow Video Kolobos 61.98 AUD KOLOBOSThe Real World meets Saw by way of Suspiria in this super-smart, super-gory - and, sadly, super-overlooked - late '90s slasher effort from filmmakers Daniel Liatowitsch and David Todd Ocvirk, released in the midst of the post-Scream slice-and-dice revival.A group of youngsters arrive at a snow-covered house under the guise of participating in a grounding-breaking new experimental film. But when the house locks down, trapping the youngsters within, it soon becomes clear that something sinister is afoot. Arrow Video Over the Edge Arrow Video Over the Edge 61.98 AUD I ONLY GOT ONE LAW: A KID WHO TELLS ON ANOTHER KID IS A DEAD KID. Inspired by real-life incidents, Over The Edge is an incendiary ode to teen rebellion that quickly became a Gen X/punk-rock touchstone, and a key influence on filmmakers such as Richard Linklater and musicians like Kurt Cobain (who often cited it as his favourite film).New Granada is a brand new 'planned community', miles from the noise and crime of the big city and a perfect place to raise a family. The only problem is they forgot to build anything for the kids to do. Bored out of their minds and stuck in the middle of nowhere, the teens in the town, led by Carl (Michael Kramer) and Richie (an effortlessly charismatic Matt Dillon in his first film role), do pretty much anything to fill the time, quickly escalating from drugs and sex to petty crime. A rash action by an overzealous local police officer (Harry Northup, Taxi Driver) sets in motion a face-off between the frustrated kids and their clueless parents that will lead to explosive, destructive consequences...Armed with a classic '70s rock soundtrack (including Cheap Trick, Ramones and Van Halen), energetic direction by Jonathan Kaplan (White Line Fever) and an intelligent script by Tim Hunter (River's Edge) and Charlie Haas (Matinee), Over The Edge still packs a righteously powerful punch today, and makes its worldwide Blu-Ray debut with brand new bonus features interviewing the cast and crew.High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray transferOriginal uncompressed mono audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearingArchive commentary by director Jonathan Kaplan, producer George Litto and writers Tim Hunter & Charlie HaasNew commentary by star Michael Kramer and journalist Mike SacksIsolated music and effects trackWide Streets + Narrow Minds, an exclusive retrospective documentary featuring newly recorded interviews with cast and crew, including Jonathan Kaplan, Tim Hunter, Charlie Haas, talent scouts Jane Bernstein and Linda Feferman, production designer Jim Newport, stars Michael Kramer, Harry Northup, Vincent Spano, Pamela Ludwig, Julia Pomeroy, Kim Kliner, Diane Reilly, Eric Lalich and othersFull post-film Q&A from a 2010 screening at the Walter Reade Theater in New York, featuring Litto, Hunter, Haas, Bernstein, Northup, Kramer, Ludwig, Pomeroy and Tom FergusExcerpts from the Projection Booth podcast episode on the film, including discussion by Mike White, Leon Chase and Heather Drain, plus interviews with Haas, Hunter, Spano, Northup and Andy RomanoDestruction: Fun or Dumb?, the full educational short excerpted within the film, in high definitionUS theatrical trailer and TV spotsUK VHS promoImage galleriesReversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Sister Hyde

Arrow Video Incredible But True Arrow Video Incredible But True 61.98 AUD Quirky, deadpan humour, an absurdist eye for French social etiquette and a keen sense of the folly of existence are among the hallmarks of the oddball comedies of director Quentin Dupieux (Rubber, Deerskin), and Incredible But True is no different. The film has been described as a fun little trinket that unmistakably comes from Dupieux's far-out perspective (Jessica Kiang, Variety) and a film with something of Charlie Kaufman or Spike Jonze (Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian). Alain (Alain Chabat, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets) and Marie (Léa Drucker, War of the Worlds) are a middle-aged bourgeois couple who move to their new house in a quiet suburb. A key feature of their new abode that the estate agent points out to them is a mysterious tunnel in the basement. Arrow Video New Battles Without Honour & Humanity Arrow Video New Battles Without Honour & Humanity 77.98 AUD In the early 1970s, Kinji Fukasaku's five-film Battles Without Honor and Humanity series was a massive hit in Japan, and kicked off a boom in realistic, modern yakuza films based on true stories. Although Fukasaku had intended to end the series, Toei Studio convinced him to return to the director's chair for this unconnected, follow-up trilogy of films, each starring Battles leading man Bunta Sugawara and telling separate, but fictional stories about the yakuza in different locations in Japan. In the first film, Bunta Sugawara is Miyoshi, a low-level assassin of the Yamamori gang who is sent to jail after a bungled hit. While in stir, family member Aoki (Lone Wolf and Cub's Tomisaburo Wakayama) attempts to seize power from the boss, and Miyoshi finds himself stuck between the two factions with no honorable way out. In the second entry, The Boss's Head, Sugawara is Kuroda, an itinerant gambler who steps in when a hit by drugaddicted assassin Kusunoki (Tampopo's Tsutomu Yamazaki) goes wrong, and takes the fall on behalf of the Owada family, but when the gang fails to make good on financial promises to him, Kuroda targets the family bosses with a ruthless vengeance. And in Last Days of the Boss, Sugawara plays Nozaki, a laborer who swears allegiance to a sympathetic crime boss, only to find himself elected his successor after the boss is murdered. Restrained by a gang alliance that forbids retributions against high-level members, Nozaki forms a plot to exact revenge on his rivals, but a suspicious closeness with his own sister (Chieko Matsubara from Outlaw Gangster VIP) jeopardizes his relationship with his fellow gang members. The New Battles Without Honor and Humanity films are important links between the first half of Fukasaku's career and his later exploration of other genres. Each one is also a top-notch crime action thriller: hard-boiled, entertaining, and distinguished by Fukasaku's directorial genius, funky musical scores by composer Toshiaki Tsushima, and the onscreen power of Toei's greatest yakuza movie stars.Special Features:High Definition digital transfers of all three filmsHigh Definition Blu-ray™ (1080p) presentationsOriginal uncompressed mono audioOptional English subtitles for all three filmsBeyond the Films: New Battles Without Honor and Humanity, a video appreciation by Fukasaku biographer Sadao YamaneNew Stories, New Battles and Closing Stories, two interviews with screenwriter Koji Takada, about his work on the second and third films in the trilogyOriginal teasers and theatrical trailers for all three filmsReversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Reinhard Kleist

Arrow Video The Invisible Man Appears / The Invisible Man vs. The Human Fly Arrow Video The Invisible Man Appears / The Invisible Man vs. The Human Fly 61.98 AUD Finally released outside Japan for the very first time, these unique riffs on H.G. Wells' classic character (though undoubtedly also indebted to Universal's iconic film series) are two of the earliest examples of tokusatsu (special effects) cinema from Daiei Studios, later the home of Gamera. In The Invisible Man Appears, written and directed by Nobuo Adachi in 1949, a scientist successfully creates an invisibility serum, only to be kidnapped by a gang of thugs who wish to use the formula to rob a priceless jewel. In addition to being the earliest surviving Japanese science fiction film ever made, the film's entertaining special effects were an early credit for the legendary Eiji Tsuburaya, five years before he first brought Godzilla to life.Eight years later, Mitsuo Murayama's exciting The Invisible Man vs. The Human Fly tells the story of a series of mysterious murders where the only clue is strange buzzing noise at the scene of the crime... could this be linked to secret wartime experiments in shrinking humans to the size of insects? And can a scientist who's just invented an invisibility ray be the one to stop it?SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS:High Definition (1080p) transfers of both films on one Blu-ray discOriginal lossless Japanese mono audio on both filmsOptional English subtitles for both filmsTransparent Terrors, a newly filmed interview with critic and genre scholar Kim Newman on the history of the Invisible Man in cinemaTheatrical trailer for The Invisible Man AppearsImage galleries for both filmsReversible sleeve featuring new and original artwork by Graham Humphreys
Arrow Video Frivolous Lola Arrow Video Frivolous Lola 53.98 AUD One of the sunniest of Tinto Brass's erotic comedies, this sets its breezy tone from the opening scene in which Lola (Anna Ammirati) cycles around a small Po Valley town in a flapping skirt that leaves nothing to the imagination. But it's the 1950s, and her baker fiancée Masetto (Max Parodi) is determined that Lola remains a virgin until their wedding night. However, she is equally set on establishing whether or not he's a good lover before they tie the knot. His dough-kneading technique seems promising, but how can she be sure without an expert to compare him with? In short, can Masetto live up to the erotic ideals professed by Lola's mother's lover (Patrick Mower)?Fortunately, the outwardly innocent town turns out to be a hotbed of licentiousness, with opportunities for voyeurism and maybe more around every corner - all in the interests of self-improving research, of course.

This specially curated selection gathers together four outstanding examples of the genre from the height of its popularity, all centred around a theme of revenge. In Lucio Fulci's (Zombie Flesh Eaters) Massacre Time (1966), Franco Nero (Django) and George Hilton (The Case of the Scorpion's Tail) star as estranged brothers forced to band together against the powerful businessman and his sadistic son (Nino Castelnuovo, Strip Nude for Your Killer) who've seized control of their hometown. In Maurizio Lucidi's (The Sicilian Cross) My Name is Pecos (1966), Robert Woods (Johnny Colt) stars as the eponymous Mexican gunslinger, returning to Houston to settle a long-standing score against the racist gang boss (Pier Paolo Capponi, The Cat O' Nine Tails) who wiped out his entire family. In Massimo Dallamano's (What Have You Done to Solange?) Bandidos (1967), Enrico Maria Salerno (Savage Three) plays a former top marksman who, years after being maimed by a former protégé (Venantino Venantini, City of the Living Dead), teams up with a fresh apprentice (Terry Jenkins, Paint Your Wagon) to get his revenge against the man who betrayed him. Finally, in Antonio Margheriti's (Cannibal Apocalypse) And God Said to Cain (1970), the inimitable Klaus Kinski (Double Face) stars as a man who has spent the last decade in a prison work camp for a crime he didn't commit and who, upon his release, immediately sets out to wreak vengeance on the men who framed him.Featuring a wealth of key Euro cult talent both behind and in front of the camera, Arrow Video is proud to present these four classic westerns in sparkling high definition restorations alongside a plethora of bonus materials.Special Edition Contents:High Definition Blu-ray™ (1080p) presentations of all four films 2K restorations of all four films from the original 35mm camera negatives Italian and English front and end titles on all four films Restored original lossless mono Italian and English soundtracks on all four films English subtitles for the Italian soundtracks Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English soundtracks Reversible sleeves featuring multiple choices of original artwork and a slipcover featuring newly commissioned artwork by Gilles VranckxDisc 1:Alternate US dub Audio commentary by authors and critics C.
